We make a life by what we give”

With this thought in mind I wanted take a moment of your time to talk to you about an organisation called the Child Welfare Scheme and a little challenge I have set myself!

CWS provides education, healthcare and social opportunities for disadvantaged children in Nepal and is a fully registered international charity.

CWS supports the most disadvantaged children of Nepal, meeting their needs regardless of how
difficult the circumstances may be and using new ideas & technologies to improve services and
make them both accessible & enjoyable to use!

Most of the CWS staff are based in Nepal, which is cost-effective and means they can closely
monitor projects and ensure every penny is spent wisely!

Why do they need your help?

CWS aims to make their projects sustainable, helping partners and communities to find ways to
take over and fund projects themselves.

However, this is a gradual and challenging process, so they need your support to continue these vital projects.

Why do they work in Nepal?

Out of every 100 children in Nepal:

• 42 live below the poverty line
• 48 will be malnourished
• 42 will be involved in child labour
• 39 will not complete primary education
• 7 will die before their fifth birthday

Over the years I have become involved in adventure challenges to raise funds for CWS; for
more information go to: www.cwsuk.org

This has become my passion and I am currently preparing for my next challenge. Over the next few years I aim to participate in a number of ultra challenges in order to raise money for CWS, watch this space for my next challenge:

In addition to the massive distance to be travelled in an ultra chalenge event and dealing with the realities of these extreme environments, I typically carry all my own equipment, food and will only be provided with water and a place to sleep in a tent each night.

Why?

Quite simply because I am determined to raise funds for CWS and increase the awareness of
the plight of the children of Nepal!

You can make a donation directly to CWS by going to www.justgiving.com/bruceharkness

Thank you

Bruce
